Exit August · A d’Lorah initiative

Die with dignity.
Live with hope.
Lead with love.

Exit August brings generations together around one conviction: elders should be protected, included and treated as full members of the future we are building.

The work ahead

Dignity is not an afterthought.

Protect

Help families recognize mistreatment and connect elders with trustworthy paths to support.

Connect

Create reasons for grandchildren, adults and elders to learn, move and spend meaningful time together.

Include

Design services, spaces and public conversations with elders as intended participants from the beginning.

Now organizing

An Exit August community event

Grandchild Tech Day

One generation knows the technology.
The other knows the way.

We are putting together a day where grandchildren help elders become more comfortable and confident with the technology they use every day.

Families will work side by side on practical skills such as video calls, photos, messaging, smartphone settings and basic online safety.

The deeper purpose is connection: giving grandchildren a meaningful way to serve while reminding elders that technology should bring them closer to family, not leave them behind.

Everyone is somebody’s grandchild.

You do not need to bring a grandchild or have one nearby to belong here. Elders whose grandchildren live far away, are out of contact or are not part of their lives are warmly invited. Volunteers of every age can step into the grandchild role for the day.

Bristol-area details and a date will be announced as planning is completed.

Our standard

“A society should be judged by whether its elders can still see themselves in its future.”

Exit August is being developed carefully, beginning with practical local projects and responsible partnerships.

We are listening before we promise, building before we announce and keeping human dignity at the center.
